How do you delete a log entry?

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

So, if you decide to delete a log entry that you had made earlier, just click on the entry to select it and press ‘delete’ to delete the entry. You can also select multiple log entries and delete them in this way.

Deleting a log entry will permanently delete the entry. This action cannot be undone. However the user can always add another new log entry with the information that they accidentally deleted.

A stock trade can be logged in TickerLog using the Trade Entry panel in the bottom of the screen. Here is a screenshot of the screen. Listed below are the different fields and buttons from left to right and top to bottom :

Button with three dots: This is actually a refresh button for the Trade date.

Trade Date box: This is the Date and Time at which the trade was made. To change a value, click on the value you want to change and press the up or down arrow on the side to increase or decrease it. For example if you wanted to log an old stock trade that was done in November and currently it is December, click on Month and press the down arrow key. Or you could over type it if you would prefer that.

Price: This is the price at which you executed the trade you are logging.

Buy/Sell: This indicate if the stock trade executed was a buy or a sell.

Quantity: This indicates the number of stocks that were traded.

Long/Short: Use this field to log whether your buy or sell order was long or short.

Comments: Log any notes that you would like to remember about this stock trade.

Clear Button: The Trade Entry panel was created such that the values entered do not clear out when the add button is pressed to log the trade. Yes, it was created this way for a reason - its not a bug! The reason was to make it quicker for Day Traders to log their trades as they execute multiple trades. By not clearing all the entries you can just tab through it and update the fields that change. This makes it very quick and easy to log a stock trade. In fact this is how you can log your stock trades in seconds.

Add Button: You guessed it right! Hit this after you have entered all your values to log your stock trade.
